Hi! I’m Jenni, I live on a hobby farm in SE Minnesota with my husband and four children. My love of the outdoors and animals started when I was young on our family farm, my first order of business in the morning was spending time with my animals. As an adult, animals continued to be an important part of my life and goats first entered the picture in 2015 when I fell in love with Angora goats and the opportunities their beautiful mohair presented. I knew I wanted to add dairy goats but was hesitant about the commitment with adding milking to our already busy life. Then we tasted Nigerian milk (rich, sweet and delectable) and I determined that I could create a breeding and milking system that worked for my schedule and the Nigerian breed became part of our homestead.
When I added goats to our homestead I approached it with lots of consideration, selecting the Angora and Nigerian breeds because their size meant that my children and I could manage their care without help and because I believe they are easier to keep contained than other goat breeds. I also knew that both breeds offered end products that I could work with and our family could enjoy, like homemade ice cream every Sunday night in the summer!
